If there is ever one time in your life that you’ll need a lot of extra help, it is most definitely when you are going to have a baby. If you are already a mom, you’ll surely know this! Mom’s and dads will be incredibly busy getting ready for ther new little bundle of joy, and if you don’t have some extra help, other areas of life may suffer a little bit. Babies require a lot of our time, so sometimes we may forget to go to the take some time for ourselves, and we may even overlook the benefit of having someone else there to talk to about our feelings.image

Doulas are not medical professionals, but they are there to provide emotional and physical support for the expectant mom. Unlike your doctor, who will be in and out of the room during labor, your doula will be there from beginning to end. If you choose that you want to labor at home for a little bit before you head to the hospital to deliver, your doula will be there with you too, offering you their support. While in labor, your doula will be there to keep you comfortable, sometimes massaging key pressure points to try and ease your pain or even set up a hot, relaxing shower for you. A doula is there to serve you!

Hiring a doula can be one of the best moves that you make during your pregnancy. They can be a valuable wealth of information and offer you knowledgeable advice, too! This is especially helpful if this is your first pregnancy. You may be scared, overwhelmed, and a ton of other feelings that you can’t quite sort out. Having a doula there will help you to relax a little more, teach you more about the process and make you as comfortable as possible.

Many medical professionals, doctors, and obstetricians of today actually encourage you to have a doula with you, especially during labor and delivery. This is primarily because the doctors know that they cannot be with you around the clock, and if you need anything, than the doula is there to tend to your needs, or to get the medical staff if they are needed.

Pregnancy can be a very exciting, but also a very scary time. Even if you aren’t a first time mother, you may have questions or concerns. Having a doula there is a constant source of emotional and physical support, almost a kind of safety net and birth encyclopedia all wrapped up in one package! Having a doula with you during the labor and delivery of your child can be one of the best decisions you can ever make!
